YONKERS - A taxi cab that a Yonkers police officer was trying to stop on Central Park Avenue for a traffic infraction early Tuesday morning sped away and then crashed into a parked vehicle, police said yesterday.

Police later learned that the 1999 Ford Crown Victoria, owned by Soundview Car Service of Peekskill, had been stolen minutes before on Central Park Avenue.

Yonkers Police Officer Ziomara Corpus of the 1st Precinct saw the taxi at 2:08 a.m. Tuesday and tried to stop it, police said.

Two men in the stolen cab sped away, crashed and then ran away. They are still on the lam.

Yonkers police Capt. Daniel Daly said Corpus saw the car heading north on Central Park Avenue without lights. When she tried to stop it, the car sped off and turned onto Cristfield Street and then Andover Road with Corpus in pursuit, police said.

The car then crashed into a parked 2002 Nissan on Andover Road. Two men jumped out of the car and ran away. Corpus tried to catch them, but could not, police said.

My Thought: This company has nothing but unlicensed taxi drivers running around doing $80 Medicaid calls all day. They operate under many names like Briarcliff taxi, Tarrytown Cab, Central Ave. Taxi and more. It is Likely that these people or person were employees just cruising around smoking crack.
